Things We Learned This Weekend…(5/15)

1.       We learned that when we play like Tigers, things go better for us… attack, attack, attack, and don’t let up ‘til we have dinner!!

2.      We learned how to mark up (even in the midfield).  Even though we didn’t always mark up really well against Kennedy (one of the best teams in the State)- they only scored two goals.  Now we know that we can mark up with anyone.

3.      We learned that we CAN get in front of the keeper when we really want to.

4.      We learned that we CAN push ourselves harder, focus more, move more quickly, and put more pressure on the opponent when we decide to do it.  (Last few minutes of Kennedy and Jefferson games)

5.       We learned that we cannot control the referees, the other players, or the field conditions.

6.      We learned that we can adjust our lineup when we need to (like we did against Jefferson) and be effective.

7.       We learned that we can take shots when we only have a half chance and those shots will cause problems for the other team (we had many chances against Jefferson and several against Kennedy).  Even though we didn’t finish many this weekend, we came close enough to know we can.  (Now we practice to focus on finishing)

8.      We learned when we are positive and help each other on the field- we all do better.  For example, the Powell sisters’ goal in the last 6 seconds of regulation against Kennedy.

9.      We learned that we need everybody- because with each game we never know who is going to be the person that makes the difference- that scores the goal or saves a ball off the line or helps a teammate keep going when she is exhausted.
